Captain Patrick Hawthorne Wins!

Amatour Hawaii 2010 Ewa Beach Championship- Ewa Beach Golf Course, June 19 & 20.

6.22.2010-- Captain Patrick Hawthorne fired a final round 71 to capture the Ewa Beach Championship with a total of 144.  After 27 holes, Patrick tied first round leader Alika Bell at 1 under for the tournament.  Eric Sonnenberg and Robert Nakagawa trailed by 2 shots at 1 over while Mark Takahama trailed by 4 shots.  Alika had bogies on 10 and 11 and double bogied 17 to drop back to 4^th and finished at 147.  Eric tripled 13 to fall back to 5^th and finished at 149.  Robert had a bogey free round until the 17^th and finished 3^rd at 146.

Standing on the 18^th tee, Patrick had a 4 stroke lead over Mark and Robert but he hit his tee shot left and looked like it might be OB.  His provisional ball ended up in the lake.  Patrick’s first ball ended up safe by 10 inches, he took an unplayable and ended up with a double bogey to edge Mark by 1 as Mark birdied the 18^th  and finished at 145.  For the day, Patrick had 5 birdies (3, 4, 9, 11, and 14) while Mark birdied 4 out of the last 10 holes (9, 10, 12, and 18).  Robert had the low round of the day 70 with birdies on 2, 6, and 9.

Bridgestone Golf will be introducing a Win with Bridgestone Golf incentive.  Champions of each 2009 Amatour Hawaii event will win 2 dozen Bridgestone golf balls.  If the champion plays with a Bridgestone golf ball for the entire event, he will win 6 dozen Bridgestone golf balls he plays with.  In the race for Player of the Year honors, the player with the most points using a Bridgestone golf ball for all of the events will win a Bridgestone staff bag with their name embroidered.  Additional information will be handed out at the Qualifier.
